Admissions (Upswell Publishing, 2022) is a new anthology documenting the lived/living experience of mental health issues in Australia, featuring 100+ pieces from some of our leading writers, poets and public figures.

Join two of the editors David Stavanger and Mohammad Awad plus contributors Paula Keogh, Gemma Mahadeo, Quinn Eades, Darby Hudson, Heidi Everett, Josie/Jocelyn Deane, Es Foong, Sandy Jeffs, Tim Heffernan and Justin Heazlewood/The Bedroom Philosopher as part of this live readings launch.

Artist Biography

David Stavanger

Poet, cultural producer, editor, and lapsed psychologist living on unceded Dharawal land.

His first full-length poetry collection was The Special (UQP, 2014). He is the co-editor of Solid Air: Collected Australian & New Zealand Spoken Word (UQP, 2019) and Admissions: Voices Within Mental Health (Upswell Publishing, 2022.) David’s latest collection, Case Notes (UWAP, 2020), won the 2021 Victorian Premier’s Literary Award for Poetry.

He is also the Project Manager of the MAD Poetry project at Red Room Poetry.
