Evelyn Araluen is a descendant of the Bundjalung nation, born, raised, and writing in Dharug country. As 2019 Festival Poet, Evelyn will perform her commissioned work, ‘Interior Anxious’, and will host Black Rhymes at Art Gallery of NSW 7.30pm on 16 October.

Evelyn is a poet, researcher and educator working with Indigenous literatures at the University of Sydney. Her writing has been awarded the Judith Wright Poetry Prize, the Nakata Brophy Prize for Young Indigenous Writers, and the Wheeler Centre Next Chapter. Also participating in the Anxiety, Culture and The Future Conference.

Wheeler Centre Next Chapter Fellowship to develop her first collection, Dropbear, to be published in 2020.
